Fix an Access Denied message
What it means when the portal says you don't have access to a case, your account is disabled, or sign-up is off.
In this article2 sections
The portal shows "Access Denied" when it can't let you in, with one of these lines beneath it: "Auto signup is disabled", "Your account has been disabled by an administrator", or "You don't have access to this case." Closing it takes you to your Hubs page, which lists the law firms you use the portal with.
Why it happens
- "Auto signup is disabled" You're signed in with an email address, phone number or Google account your law firm doesn't have for you. To their portal you're someone new, and your law firm doesn't let new people join on their own. This often happens to people with more than one email address.
- "Your account has been disabled by an administrator" Your law firm has turned off your access to their portal. It covers that law firm's portal only.
- "You don't have access to this case." The link you followed is for a case you aren't on. Your law firm hasn't added you to it yet, has taken you off it, or has deleted it. Or you're signed in with another email address than the one they added to the case.
How to fix it
For "Auto signup is disabled" or "You don't have access to this case.":
- Choose your name at the top of the page, or your initial on a phone, then Log out.
- Sign in with the email address or phone number your law firm has for you, such as the one their invitation came to. If you use Continue with Google, choose the Google account with that address.
- Open your law firm's link, or your case, again.
- If the message comes back, contact your law firm and ask them to add you to their portal, or to your case.
For "Your account has been disabled by an administrator", contact your law firm by phone or email and ask them to turn your access back on. Their portal stays closed to you until they do.
