Edit or delete a post

Fix the words of an update you posted, change who can see it or remove a file, or delete an update from the case.

In this article5 sections

You can correct an update you posted, or delete an update from the case. Only an update's author can edit it; with the staff role you can delete anyone's.

  1. Open the update's menu

On the case's Feed, choose ⋯ at the top right of the update. Edit shows on your own updates, and Delete on yours and, with the staff role, on everyone's.

  2. Edit it

Choose Edit, and change the text in place. To change who can see it, open the box below the text, which reads Everybody can see when nobody is left out, and tick the roles who should; see Choose who can see a post. To remove a file, choose × on it.

Choose Save, or Cancel to leave it as it was. You can't add files to an update: put them in a comment or a new update.

  3. Delete it

Choose Delete, then Yes. It can't be undone.

What happens next

An edit tells nobody, not even someone you newly mention, and emails already sent keep the old words. The update keeps its place and time, with no sign it was edited. Readers in another language see the new words translated the next time they open the case.

A deleted update is gone for everyone, with its comments and files. Emails already sent about it stay in people's inboxes.

If something goes wrong

  • There's no Edit. Only the update's author can edit it, even with the staff role, and updates the Virtual Assistant posts can only be deleted. Ask the author, or delete it and post your own.
  • The ⋯ does nothing. The case is closed, so nothing on it can change.
  • Save is greyed out. An update needs some text, and at least one role ticked.

Your firm may have changed what each role can do on a case. If an option described here is missing, ask an Admin of your hub.
