Your law firm may send you a document to sign online, such as a retainer agreement. You fill in the fields marked for you, sign, and submit it. If you don't want to sign, or have a question, message your law firm first: there's no option to decline.
Open the document
Tap Click here in the email asking for your signature, or the link in the text. Or open your case and, under To DoTo Do The list on a case of things waiting for you, such as forms to fill in, documents to sign or events to confirm., choose Open Task beside it (on a phone, E-sign The Form).
You can also open E-signs, and under Your Uncompleted E-signs, choose Submit E-sign in the row's Action list.
Fill in your fields
Only the fields for you can be changed. The others are for someone else, such as your attorney. Some of yours are filled in from your case, so check them.
Sign it
Tap each signature box that's yours. Draw your signature, choose Type to type your name, or choose Image to use a photo of your signature, and add it.
Your answers and signature save as you go, so you can leave and come back without signing again. Your law firm sees nothing until you submit, and an unfinished document is kept for 30 days after your last change.
Submit it
Choose Submit. After that, your signature can't be changed.
What happens next
Your law firm is told you've signed. Once everyone has signed, you get an email, or a text, with a link to the signed copy, where you can download or print it. You can open it again from Your Completed E-signs, with View E-sign.
If something goes wrong
- "First, you need to fill in the required fields" Fill in every required field that's yours, then choose Submit again.
- "This signature was placed in a field assigned to another signer. Please sign in your own field and try again." Move your signature into a box that's yours.
- "This is too large to save. If you used a picture for your signature, please draw or type it instead, or use a smaller picture." Draw or type your signature, or use a smaller photo.
Your law firm may have changed what you can do in the portal. If an option described here is missing, ask your firm.
