Reply to an update from your law firm

Comment on an update in your portal, or reply straight to the update email, and attach files if you need to.

In this article6 sections

Reply to an update to answer your law firm or ask them about it. Your reply shows below the update as a comment. You can write it in the portal, or reply to the email about the update.

  1. Open the comments

On your case's Feed, choose Comment under the update. Its comments show below it, with a box to write in.

  2. Write your reply

Type your reply in Write a comment..... To address someone, type @ and pick their name. To add photos or documents, choose the picture button beside the box.

  3. Post it

Choose Post. To change your comment later, choose its pencil icon, edit it and choose Update. To delete it, choose × beside it and confirm with Yes.

  4. Reply by email instead

Reply to the email about the update, or about a comment on it, from the email address your law firm has for you. Your reply and any files you attach are added below the update as your comment, without the earlier messages quoted in it.

What happens next

Whoever posted the update is told about your reply, and so is everyone else the update is for, in the portal and by email or text. If you mention someone, only they're told. Editing or deleting a comment tells nobody.

If something goes wrong

  • There's no box to write in. Your case is closed, so nothing more can be posted on it.
  • Your emailed reply never appears. Replies are added only when they come from the email address your law firm has for you, and only to emails about an update or a comment. Replies to other emails, such as about a form or an invoice, and replies to texts aren't delivered. Comment in the portal instead.

Your law firm may have changed what you can do in the portal. If an option described here is missing, ask your firm.
