Post an update to many cases at once
Post the same or tailored feed updates on many cases in one go from a CSV file, for example after a court ruling.
In this article6 sections
An import posts updates on many cases at once from a spreadsheet saved as a CSV file, such as news of a court ruling for every claimantClaimant A person making a claim; mass tort firms often call their clients claimants.. Each row is one update on one case, so every row can say the same thing, or each can be tailored.
Prepare the file
Put one update on each row, under these column names in the first row:
case_id: the case's Tag IDTag ID A permanent label you give a case, such as rear-end-2026, also shown as Reference ID and used in imports., such as rear-end-2026, or its case ID from the Admin Panel's case list.user_id: who the update is from, by their Reference ID or their user ID from Edit User. They must be on that case in a role that can post updates, such as staff, and the update shows under their name.message: the update's text, written in that person's language.
To limit who sees an update, add
permissionswith the roles, such asrole::clients,role::staff. Left blank, everyone on the case sees it. Save the file as CSV UTF-8.Start the import
In Integration › Imports, choose NEW, and pick Create case posts under Import Type.
Add the file
Type an Import Name, such as Ruling update, or leave it blank to use the file's name. Drag the file onto Upload File, or choose Browse file, and choose Create Import.
Check the result
When every row has worked, the import reads Completed, and Stats shows how many updates were posted out of how many rows were in the file. If any failed, it reads Partly failed, with Stats counting what succeeded and failed, or Failed. Choose View Import to see why, and see Fix an import with failed rows.
What happens next
Each update appears on its case's feed under the named person's name, as if they had posted it. It notifies everyone on the case but them, or only the people it mentions, as any update does: by email, or by a text without the update's words for people who have only a phone number. Readers who use another language see it translated, if your firm has translation on. To mention people, write mentions as in a feed template; see Mention the right people in a template.
Only the person named can edit an update afterwards, and staff can delete one from the case's feed.
If something goes wrong
- "Permission denied: User does not have permission to case." The person in
user_idisn't on that case. - "Permission denied for module request." Their role on that case can't post updates.
- "Case is closed" Reopen the case first, or leave it out of the file.
