Turn translation of case updates on or off

Stop or restart machine translation of case updates and comments across your hub; it's on by default and only an Admin can change it.

In this article3 sections

Updates and comments on your cases are machine-translated into each reader's language. Translation is on for every hub. Machine translation isn't exact, least of all for legal wording, so you can switch it off for your whole hub. See Understand how updates and comments are translated.

  1. Find the Translation card

In Settings › General, scroll to the Translation card.

  2. Flip the switch

Switch Translate case updates and comments into each reader's language off, or back on. It saves at once, and "Translation switched off" or "Translation switched on" shows.

Only Admins can change it. For Managers the switch doesn't move, and the card says "Only an Admin can change this." There's no setting per case or per person.

What happens next

Switched off, every case in your hub shows each update and comment as written, with no Show original or Translating…. Emails about anything posted from then on carry the words as written only. Buttons, labels and the fixed wording of emails stay in each person's language: the switch covers only what people write.

Switched back on, translations already made show again at once, for messages unchanged since. The rest are made the next time someone opens them. Emails sent while it was off aren't sent again.
