Close or reopen a case
Close a finished case so everyone sees it as closed and no one can add to it, or reopen it later.
In this article3 sections
Close a case when its matter is finished. Everyone on it can still read it, but nobody can add to it or change it on the case page until you reopen it.
Close the case
In Cases, on Active, choose Close Case, the circled cross, in the case's row, and confirm. The case moves to Closed.
You can also set Case Status to Closed in the case's Edit Case window. In the LobbyLobby The home screen of the portal, showing your cases, announcements, inquiries and the firm's office locations., people on the case with the staff role can close it too: on its Info page, they choose Closed under Change Status. Only the Admin Panel reopens it. See View a case's details and IDs.
Reopen it later
On Closed, choose Open Case, the circled arrow, in the case's row. It reopens at once, without asking, and moves back to Active.
What happens next
- Nobody is told. Clients and your team find the case under Closed in their Lobby, and its pages say "This case has been closed".
- On the case page, nobody can post, comment, fill in a form, sign, pay or add anything, Admins included. Everything already there stays readable.
- Reminders, check-ins and milestone updates stop, and emailed replies to its updates aren't added.
- You can still edit the case in the Admin PanelAdmin Panel The staff-only side of a hub, opened with the Admin button, where the firm manages cases, users, templates, automations and settings., from Closed, and take people off it, but not add people, by hand or by import, or change their roles until you reopen it. See Edit a case's details and team.
- Reopening lets everyone carry on as before.
